Interesting timing. I’ve been prepping, traveling and gigging with speaking presentations for the last week solid. I just finished the final presentation here in Houston a few hours ago amd was immediately ready to catching up on the exercise and publishing I’ve neglected in that time, but immediately felt the “offness” of running right back toward the (good) habits. Instead I am writing this from an Italian restaurant where I am enjoying some delicious food, a nice cabernet, and digestion time. Thought I was just going to enjoy a little reading, but your topic was too on point.

I love that, Rick! You can tell you're a writer by the way you brought us into the Italian restaurant as though we're sitting at the table sipping wine and having a chat together.

The "offness of running back" resonates with me. I used to exhaust myself in the lead up to a trip by trying to "compensate" for the time I was going to "miss" and then exhaust myself upon return trying to "make up time." But over the weekend, I realized how insane that was.

The whole point of taking breaks is to create space to relax and overcompensating negates the time off. So now I'm being intentional about cutting back and easing in and out of vacation mode.

Thanks for reading and sharing your experience. Much appreciated.

Thanks, Gwyn! It’s a work in progress. But I figure since I managed to find my rhythm with my newsletter I’ll eventually figure out the right approach to posting on social media without compromising my core values. Thanks for reading!

"But I’m energized knowing I’m now asking the right question versus forcing myself to do things I don’t feel aligned with just because it’s a loud trend (e.g., subscribing to the “no days off” mentality)."

YESS. Getting into alignment is so important! So glad to hear you were able to take some time to enjoy yourself!

Making a shift from a weekly newsletter to biweekly one came largely because the weekly cadence made my newsletter TOO top of mind. As soon as I published, I was immediately thinking about the next one. Biweekly helps me be more present day to day. Spaciousness keeps me in alignment.
