Thanks for being here
Hey everyone, hope you’re having a wonder-full week
I love being around people who struggle to answer the question, “where are you from?”
“It’s such an awkward question. I always respond with: how much time do you have?”
A friend of mine said that at dinner last night, and everyone laughed. Because we’ve all lived in multiple countries, and that means “home” is no longer a single place—even for someone like me, who’s found my way back to where I started.
Anytime someone asks me where I’m from, I say “Montreal but I’ve also lived in London, Sydney, and Paris.” Those other places are part of my identity. They’ve shaped the woman I am today.
“Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”—Terry Pratchett
The dinner I attended was part of Running Remote, a remote work conference that started in Bali—the world capital of remote work—and migrated to Montreal this year. A friend of mine from Indonesia was attending on behalf of her startup, and she invited me along. Being able to chat with people living in Spain, the Philippines, Portugal, Taiwan, Thailand, Germany, and Romania at one table was incredible. It reminded me that spending time abroad is the best education.
Now, down to business. Here are 3 prompts I have for you:
Check-in on your experiments (with some BONUS course resources)
Article on making goals more enjoyable
Challenge around “anti-goals”
🌻 Experience of the week
I just launched my first paid product on Gumroad—an e-commerce platform designed to “make it easy to earn your first dollar online by selling digital products.”
It’s a HUGE milestone for me. I’ve never sold anything before (other than my time as a freelancer)—but this is different. It’s a product that I’ve created. Built entirely on my hard earned lessons over the years. I’m really proud of myself.
My hope is it will help others—potentially you—flesh out a course concept you’ve been thinking about. You can learn more and grab a copy here. I’ve also shared a free Course Building Cheat Sheet here.
Creating online resources is a new experiment for me. So even if my first product is a flop, it’s OK. I’ll learn from my mistakes, and be smarter about my next one.
Stay tuned for more resources coming soon.
CHECK-IN: What’s something you’ve been wanting to experiment with and how can you put said experiment in motion?
🍎 Content diet
I mentioned last week, I’m making an effort to consume more quality content. I feel smarter already—and my social media feeds are way less chaotic. I’m now less of a receiver, and more of a curator. I love it.
Here’s a brilliant post I read that will help you tackle your goals in enjoyable ways:
CHALLENGE: How can you use this concept to make learning more enjoyable?
💭 Question to ponder
Now that you’ve set an anti-goal for yourself, think about how you can help students do the same.
QUESTION: How can you use the concept of anti-goals in your course to help students make their learning more enjoyable?
Thanks for being one of the 136 people sharing this journey with me.

Have a wonder-full week,
CONGRATS. You're such a rockstar. Whoever buys this gum and chews it up will be way better for it. 🚀
This is awesome Alexandra! Well done on launching your 1st paid course! Happy to be a customer. I love the segment on anti-goals. The rapids we should look out for as we navigate our journeys.
